Ebitie Amughan, Management Information Systems '16
I always had an affinity for business and to me business is about connecting with people to bring about something new and exciting. One could imagine my excitement when I was admitted into Eller College of Management pursing a degree in Management Information Systems. I have had the opportunity to participate and preside over clubs and organizations such as Eller African American Honorary, UA Green Team, Spring Fling, and Residence Life. These experiences fortified my passion for business, technology, and collaborating with others. My past experiences and passion landed me an internship with Microsoft and I am excited to begin my career at Microsoft post-graduation. My experience at Eller and the UA has been nothing short of amazing, pleasantly challenging, and rewarding. I challenge everyone to get involved, be 100% engaged, and always be open to learning and soaring new heights.
Marie Archibald, Finance '16
Between rising to leadership positions in clubs, preceptoring different courses, interning abroad, and mentoring younger students, my involvement in Eller has become increasingly important to me. With much help from the Professional Development Center and Jeff Welter specifically, I was able to secure an internship on Wall Street after my junior year and have recently accepted a full time position working in the Investment Banking division of Goldman Sachs after graduation. Much of my Eller experience has come from hand-on experiences outside the classroom - from interactions with peers, alumni, and from the investments club of which I am now the president. I am confident that my Eller experience has prepared me for my future career and am thankful for the culture of giving back that Eller has further instilled in me.
Sabrina Langer, Business Management '16
My experience at the University of Arizona has been incredible due to my involvement and experiences in Eller. I work in the Undergraduate Programs Office as the Front Desk Coordinator, and have also been a member of ELITE and Cohort Advisory Board. Outside of my academics, I have been a member of Sigma Kappa sorority since freshman year, and I have recently joined the Greek Honorary, Order of Omega. These organizations assisted in my personal and professional growth by helping me develop communication, time management, and teamwork skills. All of my professional experiences would not have been possible without the Eller Professional Development Center and all that I have learned from the amazing faculty and fellow students. Eller has given me the opportunity to connect with many different employers, which led to my professional work experiences with the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona, J.W. Marriott Starr Pass Resort, and MGM Resorts International, where I was a Hotel Operations Intern during the 2015 summer. Following graduation, I am hopeful I will pursue my passion of hospitality, at MGM Resorts International. I am so appreciative for the opportunities and experiences the Eller College has provided me, and my college experience wouldn’t have been the same if it weren’t for my continuous involvement.
Fabio Mire, Finance and Business Economics '16
My Eller Experience has been memorable and the focal point of my development as individual in college. One of the great aspects of Eller is the ability to easily get involved right away, given that you can truly develop through club involvement. Since freshman year I have been involved with the Financial Management Association, Eller ELITE, and Student Government; holding collectively 9 leadership positions in these organizations over the last 3 years, including having founded the Wall Street Scholars Program senior year. In addition to involvement, I received great support from the Professional Development Center’s resources such as career coaches, specifically my career coach Jeff Welter. I can’t say enough about how pivotal Jeff Welter was to my Eller Experience by connecting me with various Wall Street alumni and working with me to help me achieve my professional goals. I was able to leverage these experiences and support to land various opportunities including an internship at the Edward Jones Tempe campus sophomore year, an investment banking internship at Deutsche Bank on Wall Street junior year, and ultimately a full-time offer for the Investment Banking Division at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in New York after graduation.
Waverly Newton, Marketing '16
Throughout my college career, I have made it a goal to immerse myself in the University of Arizona culture and create a memorable Eller Experience. I have been an an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma since Fall 2012 and served as the Philanthropy Chairman where I had the privilege of planning Kappa Hoops for Hope which raised $20,000 for the Arizona Cancer Center. Within the Eller Undergraduate Office, I hold two positions on the Events, Leadership and Marketing team, one as the Student Event Coordinator and the other as the Make a Difference Day Coordinator. Both of these positions have given me the opportunity to become engaged with Eller PDC, staff, faculty and students. Eller clubs have also been a large part of my college experience as I have had the pleasure of starting two of them, the Eller Service Honorary and the Eller Event Planning Association, and I am also a member of the professional business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi. Becoming a part of the Eller family has truly been the heart of my college experience and has provided me with a wonderful support system that I know will follow me as I embark on my career journey.
Victoria Preciado, Marketing and Entrepreneurship '16
My Eller Experience has provided me with incredible friendships, mentors, and memories. As an Eller student, I have been involved in many leadership opportunities within Eller such as being an Eller Ambassador, the Community Outreach Director for Eller Service Honorary, and previously a member of the Eller Board of Honor and Integrity. I have also worked in the Dean’s Office with the Development Team since my sophomore year where I have been able to help with the donor acknowledgement process and help plan events like Executive of the Year. I am honored to work with incredible faculty and truly appreciate the staff, PDC Coaches, and McGuire Entrepreneurship mentors. I am especially grateful for the guidance and encouragement from both Pete Corrigan and Dave Wietecha these past four years! Outside of Eller, I have been actively involved in my sorority Chi Omega, within the Honors College, in professional opportunities with Trend Fashion Club, and preceptorships. I recently completed a Digital Marketing internship with Tucson Fashion Week where I also acted as the Back of House Assistant and I am currently a PR intern with Havas PR. As far as what my plans are for post-graduation, I am looking for opportunities with event marketing firms and within the fashion industry.
Jessica Schulte, Finance and Operations Management '16
My experience with Eller is something I am truly grateful to have had across all four years as an undergraduate student at the University of Arizona. From the professional development I received through ELITE to the leadership experiences I gained through Eller's number one outstanding organization Delta Sigma Pi, I have come across fellow business students from every walk of life. I've learned more than I ever thought I could and now, thanks to the time, effort and energy my professors and advisors have spent on me, the real world seems so much less intimidating than it did just four short years ago. I owe my future at Siemens to the connections and networks of this college, and I cannot wait to see how much this school will continue to grow in the future!
Nathan Schupp, Finance and Management Information Systems '16
My Eller Experience has been defined by the diversity of opportunities made available to students. I've had the privilege of serving as the President of Eller Ambassadors for two years, where I've developed my leadership skills. Thanks to the help in the PDC, I learned to network effectively, which landed me two summer internships- one at a 3D graphic design start-up in Austin and the other with Protiviti in Phoenix. Through Eller's career showcase, I was also able to obtain a job during my Junior year as General Mills' on-campus student recruiter. Now as the Alumni Relations Student Coordinator, I've been able to interact with numerous past Eller students and can personally attest to how badly they want to hire our students. Ultimately, the Eller College of Management gives you all the tools you need to be successful, all you have to do is reach out and make it happen.
Hayley Schwartz, Marketing and Business Economics '16
I am very involved in the college and serve as the President of the Eller College Student Council and work as the Student Career Coordinator in the PDC. I'm also a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity and past member of Chain Gang Junior Honorary. I aspire to work in the Entertainment industry and have had multiple related jobs and internships in the industry. The past two summers I interned in New York City for NBC Universal and Sirius XM Radio, and I am currently the Tucson campus marketing rep for Warner Music Group! The Professional Development Center has been immensely helpful in assisting me to land these roles. Eller has given me the best college experience I can imagine, get involved, take advantage of the resources offered, and Bear Down Suit Up!
Scott Williams, Accounting '16
As far as opportunities go, they exist aplenty within the Eller College of Management. I chose to challenge myself with officer roles in organizations such as the Accounting Student Association and Beta Alpha Psi, so as to make the most of the professional growth potential that comes from being an Eller student leader. Thanks to many successful recruitment events and the tailored guidance of the Department of Accounting’s faculty, I was able to apply the technical and soft skills that I’d picked up from the college to both an externship with Deloitte & Touche LLP and an Audit internship with Grant Thornton LLP during the Summer of 2015. During the Spring 2016 semester, I will work as a Tax Intern for BeachFleischman CPAs with the hope of sharpening my business acumen and broadening my base of technical abilities, and in September 2016 I will start full-time as an Audit Associate for Deloitte. The University of Arizona and the Eller College of Management offer students like me every resource that they need to succeed, but I’m proud to be a student who has taken the initiative to make the most of such access.
