Biography:

Paul L Melendez has been with The University of Arizona since 1996. He holds a B.A., M.Ed., and will complete his doctorate at The University of Arizona in May 2007 with a specialization in “privatization.” He holds a joint faculty and administrative appointment serving as a Lecturer in the School of Public Administration & Policy and serving as a Director of the Ethics & Honors Programs in the Undergraduate Programs of the Eller College of Management. As a Lecturer he currently teaches a course in public policy and administration and recently developed and taught the college’s first business ethics course in fall 2004. He has also taught courses in health care and public management, and decision-making. In fall 2004 he was asked to serve as the lead faculty to the Southwest Leadership Program (SWLP) the College’s longest standing executive education program. As a Director he launched the college’s E-tegrity (Eller Integrity) program in fall 2003. Focused on the promotion of academic integrity and character development, E-tegrity enjoys a broad base of support from students, faculty, and the University. E-tegrity has been the recipient of national and university awards for “innovation” and “outstanding student organization.” Beginning in fall 2006 he will begin to oversee the Honors Program. He plans to make changes with the curriculum and student services model, increase the number of Faculty Fellows, and bring greater structure to the thesis process to increase the number of students that graduate with honors.
