2007-2008 University of Arizona McCord Scholarship Winners

Matthew Baum, Amrietha Nellan, Eller Dean Paul Portney, Sasha Meschkow, Daniel “Dan” Sands,
Sharon McCord, Robert McCord, UA President Robert Shelton, and Stephanie White
Matthew Baum will be a junior who plans on majoring in Accounting or Finance. Matthew worked as a salesperson at Baum’s Sporting Goods. He participated in the New York Study Tour in which he met business leaders, Eller Scholars as an active member, Habitat for Humanity in which he reinforced house walls in Tucson and prepared a house foundation in Nogales, Mexico, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and served food, Planet Drum to help with town reforestation in Bahia Caraquez, Ecuador.
Amrietha Nellan will be a junior who plans on majoring in Business Economics. Amrietha has been involved with Multicultural Business Student Association as its secretary, Mock Trial at The University of Arizona as its secretary, United Nations High Commission for Refugees in Kuala L3
U01mpur, Malaysia as a volunteer, The University of Arizona Honors Civic Engagement Team as a selected member and intern of the Partner’s for Peace Initiative in Sulaimani, Iraq, and the Eller Student Council as a representative.
Sasha Meschkow will be a junior who plans on majoring in Accounting. Sasha has worked with the Arizona Department of Liquor License and Control as an intern investigator, Nordstrom Inc. as a sales associate and cashier, and Meschkow and Gresham as an administrative assistant. She has been involved with Persona Literary Magazine and oversaw magazine staff selection, Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity as Mock Trial Vice-Chair, Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations and redesigned its website, and University Activities Board as its Up Late Coordinator.
Daniel “Dan” Sands will be a junior and major in Accounting and Business Economics. Daniel has worked for the Chicago Board of Trade as a runner and clerk on the exchange floor, Southwest Resources Inc. as a financial auditor, Pima Community College as a business math tutor, Economics Department at The University of Arizona doing research and data compiling, NASA Space Grant doing Cassini Mission data analysis, and served as a private math tutor. Daniel is also a member of the US Army Ranger Team.
Stephanie White will be a junior and major in Marketing. Stephanie has worked in Residence Life as a Resident Assistant and a Desk Assistant, the City of Tempe as a pool manager and head lifeguard, and the Pregnancy Crisis Center as a clerk. She has been involved in Sophos Honorary as its president, Optimus Honorary as its scholarship chair, Hall Council as its historian and wing representative, Eller Scholars as a representative and Freshman Class Council as a representative.
