There is a great need for students today to understand how global events impact their lives, both professionally and personally. The United States may still be a superpower within the world, but there are many emerging nations with which we need to familiarize ourselves. To aid students in heightening their awareness of the global issues that surround us, we have proposed an event that will allow students to learn from those who experience the effects of globalization first-hand – a Global Impact Symposium.
The Global Impact Symposium, in conjunction with the Global Challenge, is a lecture/discussion open to all students, during which they will have an opportunity to learn about and discuss global issues, such as global trade, economic, and political events.
It will bring panelists from three different areas: economic, government, and corporations, together to debate and discuss how these matters will affect students and the world around them.
At the end of the symposium, the International Business Student Organization will hold their annual Global Challenge in which high school and college students will compete by answering world trivia to win a monetary prize.
During this annual event students put their knowledge of global issues to the test in a team-based fast paced quiz game. Teams are composed of UA and local high school students, and over $1000 in prize money and gift certificates is provided to winning teams. Interested in participating? Submit your team name and members to the Global Challenge Coordinator, Brad Conrad, at bjconrad@email.arizona.edu or add them to the Symposium Registration Form.
