Where?
The Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM)
The Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), also known as Monterrey TEC, has been receiving international students for over 30 years. One of the very best private universities in all of Latin America, TEC is widely known for its excellent degree programs and state-of-the-art facilities as well as its highly developed in Spanish, Business in Mexico, and Mexican culture. The Mexican monetary system is based on pesos (MXP). Current exchange rates can be located at www.oanda.com/convert/classic. The temperatures in Mexico vary from the humid, subtropical Mazatlan coast (57-80°F in January; 77-90°F in July) to the central hills of Mexico City (45-70°F in January; 56-74°F in July).
In addition to classes in business administration, ITESM also offers classes in Spanish as a second language, business in Mexico, Mexican culture, and hotel & tourism. The campuses listed in the fast facts box offer programs taught in English for international students; those who are already fluent in Spanish may attend regular classes at those campuses. Internships may be available at some campus locations. Housing varies depending on the campus location; some campuses do not offer dormitory housing, but most offer students the opportunity to stay with a host family.
When?
In general, Fall semester begins early August and runs through mid december. Spring semester begins in mid January and runs through late May. Approximate dates for Spring 2004 and Fall 2004 are as follows:
Summer 2004: 6/5/04 - 7/21/04
Fall 2004: 7/30/04 - 12/07/04
How Much?
The cost estimate for this program is:
Semester Program: $2500 (Tuition for AZ Residents) and $7000 (Tuition for Non-AZ Residents)
Summer:$1500 (Tuition only)
The Process:
Applications are available in The Undergraduate Programs Office (McClelland 204). Required materials include:
- UA Study Abroad application (Available online!)
- International university application
- Official UA transcript
- $50 application fee
- 3 Copies of all submitted materials
Students are encouraged with meet with the international programs (IP) advisor as soon as possible to determine which overseas option best suits the student's needs. This can be accomplished through regularly held information sessions or via an appointment with the IP advisor. To make an appointment with the IP advisor follow the following steps:
- Go to http://ugrad.eller.arizona.edu
- Click on the "Advising Appointment" logo
- Enter your Student ID and PIN numbers and click "Login"
- Click on the "New Appointment" tab
- Follow the prompts from there to schedule an appointment
Application deadlines are as follows:
October 15 for Spring Semester
March 15 for Fall Semester
Once you have submitted an application it will take a few weeks to confirm your acceptance into the program. From there you will receive practical information regarding the institution, housing, and travel, and you can begin the process of preparing for departure!
