Knowledge of the expanding world is critical to our current time, particularly the perpetually changing world of financial markets and institutions. Eller College of Management students have an opportunity to participate in an interesting and unique course that has been organized by the Department of Finance - Finance 451: International Markets and Institutions.
It is certain that the business environment in the United States will become progressively global in the coming years. This course provides an excellent opportunity for Eller students to get in on the ground floor and take full advantage of the internationalization of the business world.
Students participating in the program will take with them the following outcomes:
- Exposure to the practices of international markets and institutions outside the United States .
- Insight into the cultural, social and political environments of London .
- Once in a lifetime opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in international business, international investments, international banking, or related fields.
- Acquire a first-hand view of international market practices while experiencing the excitement of traveling abroad in a total immersion environment.
The Finance 451 course is designed to introduce students to international financial markets and institutions, focusing on banking, investments, and trade. An overview to these topics is provided through classroom lectures and readings in Tucson , prior to site visits in London , England . Classroom lectures will be conducted during spring semester followed by a 13-day stay in London , England from May 22, 2005 to June 3, 2005. Classroom topics include:

international derivatives and risk management.
As a major centre for international financing, London offers an opportunity to experience the many dimensions of the international markets from a global perspective. Site visits in London include:

The Finance 451 course is offered for upper division or graduate level Eller College of Business credit. Students must be at least juniors and must be enrolled in the Eller College of Business. A $500 nonrefundable deposit will secure a space for the course and London trip. The Priority Deadline date is December 10, 2004. Space is limited and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. The course price includes tuition and course materials while in Tucson ; and accommodations, travel card, administrative costs, insurance, and scheduled site visits while in London . The course price does not include airfare, meals, or spending money. Students will need to have a valid passport to participate. Non-US passport holders are responsible for any visas that may be required in London or to return to the United States .
