Global Business Program

What is the Global Business Program?

The Global Business Program (GBP) is a “customized” 15 unit certificate program that Eller College students complete during their junior and senior years. This program incorporates Eller courses, General Education courses, and the required Global Business Program courses ( BNAD 449 and BNAD 450) for the GBP to be completed.

The GBP is a selective entry program open only to Eller College students interested in acquiring knowledge specific to the global business environment and allows students to add an international dimension to their Eller College major.

Students can apply for this program starting their sophomore year, or when they have completed the requirements (see below).

Preparation for GBP:

1. Consult the International Initiatives advisor early in your Pre-business studies to make sure you are on track: efergus@eller.arizona.edu
2. Enroll in BNAD 201: Topics and Careers in the Global Environment
• This class is viewed as a prep class and students will NOT receive credit for this class towards the GBP
• This class is not required for the GBP but will count towards your elective credits at the U of A

• Work towards acquiring 16 units (or equivalent proficiency) of a second language

Applying for the Global Business Program:

• Acquire 16 units (or equivalent proficiency) of a second language
• Fourth semester course can be in-progress when applying for the GBP
• Apply for Professional Admissions into the Eller College
• Apply for the GBP after you have received your acceptance into the Eller College. The application deadline for the GBP is November 1 and April 1for admission to the GBP for the following semester

• Note you can also apply from abroad if you have completed all of the requirements

GBP Coursework : 15 units total

The GBP coursework is broken into two parts: Required units & Additional Units.

You must take the 6 required units, as well as 9 additional units to complete the 15 units required for the GBP.

Required classes : 6 units required

• BNAD 449 : International Business Environments- 3 Units
• BNAD 450 : Principles of International Business – 3 Units

*Note: BNAD 449 is offered in the fall only and BNAD 450 is offered in the spring only.

Program Options : 9 units required
In collaboration with the International Initiatives advisor, students will customize their GBP certificate with courses from the following options:

• Business level languages course : 3 units
• Upper division language classes can count for this.
• Spanish 371, German 314, French 370A, etc.
• Eller College International Course Options : 3-6 units
• Upper Division Major specific courses can count for the GBP- see below under Eller College International Course Options
• Global Topics Courses
• These are approved Tier Two General Education courses that will count for both the Gen Ed requirement and towards the GBP: General Education courses: International focus
• Tier One classes, such as TRAD 101, cannot count towards the GBP
• BNAD 396: International Business Seminar (summer study tour) 3 units
• BNAD 393 : International Business Internship**
• PA 202 : Costa Rica or Argentina Study Tour
